In "bookstore", a lone worker finds himself in an archive where all the books have been removed. All that remains of this once rich source of information is the architecture of presentation. Here the shelves and category tags are both handholds and sites of slippage. Knowledge in this archive has become completely relational. Cognition has devolved into a vortex of remembering and forgetting. Time and gesture dilate into multiplicities of silence and disappearance. And the desire for knowledge transforms itself into the fugitive desire for place.
