FRANCE, 2012, 00:52:00

Production : AMIP, MUSEE DU LOUVRE
Collection : Musée du Louvre
Genre : Documentary
Keyword : Painting, Archaeology, Sculpture, History of art, Louvre Museum

Summary :
Composed of more than two hundred masterpieces from all departments of the Louvre, the Galerie du temps is the heart of the new Louvre-Lens Museum. This is the only place in the world where you can see in a single space, a veritable river of artworks constituting a wonderful book of both knowledge and discoveries, but also a succession of wonders. Presented in a spirit of transversality and in chronological form, the works tell the story of humanity, from the fourth millennium BC to the European nineteenth century, through Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece and Rome, without forgetting the Islamic world.

Archaeological pieces are alongside sculptures, paintings, art objects, as such mirrors that men tended to their gods or to their own faces. Combining the viewer to the birth of the new museum in a mirror set between the Louvre-Lens and Louvre Paris, this film is an invitation to discover this Louvre otherwise through the big story of the artistic adventure of the men staged in the Galerie du Temps.
