Summary :
IT STARTS AT HOME is a mixture of sitcom and musical comedy in which Mike, our unfortunate hero, confronts 50 minutes of celebrity. The great hopes of communicating with the outside world (the myth of public access through cable) which represents the arrival of cable television in Mike's house will turn against him. The direction of the television broadcast is reversed and the totally banal daily activities of Mike are publicly broadcast on television. A film director (represented by a rather loquatious piece of fur) promises him television fame and goes about improving his image and organising publicity about Mike's life show which he intends to propose to the curious look of television viewers. In this ironic comedy, Smith has created a satire on the infiltration of television into the daiy life of the average American. He brings out into broad daylight the absurdity of the image machine which is television.
