Summary :
Seattle-born John Franklin Koenig left for Paris in 1950s, where he co-founded the magazine Cimaise. Inspired by Zen Buddhism, as well as the aesthetics of the Japanese garden, this lyrical abstract painter here presents his favourite themes : Charlie Parker, the mad monk Sengai Gibon, and travel. His works are powerful embodiments of an inner life, and reflect his open, adventurous, and mobile life. Shot mostly in his studio in the Gâtinais countryside in France, this film takes us to the heart of his inspiration : nature.
