Summary :
The “Restoration” of the Pierrefonds castle lasted 28 years, from 1858 to 1886. It emerged as a complex enterprise mixing proper restoration, the imperial commission, Viollet-le-Duc’s implementation of his archictectural theories, and a ludic vision where past is only a pretext, where the rational and scientific approach gives way to a lot of modern chimeras. This film is thus about reconstructing the “ideal” visit associating in every sequence a recognizable place and themes that increase our knowledge and curiosity.
