“Truth has to be bewitched, it has to be given the appearance of madness” : this citation by Degas inspired Alekan for this film, a milestone to be added to many of his other films, to the one he did about Rodin for example. Three young girls dance in front of the camera, their bodies put on with red clay to match their model, striking the model’s poses, looking up, arms behind the back, maybe standing at ease, but impertinent enough. Only Huysmans liked it in his time, like Alekan today, who offers us his evocation of Degas’ unknown work.
