Summary :
Est-Ouest is a journal filmed in video and in super 8, shot between and in the stations of the “Residence Zone”, traced by Catherine la Grande in 1791 so that the jews can go and live at the west of the Empire. “Vilnius-Odessa” is the first part of this trip which should end later somewhere in the West. In this part, it was about going to greet those I call my sipiritual fathers, painters and film-makers : Chagall, Vertov, Eisenstein… It results a kind of rail wandering, a coming and going between the world of the past and the reminiscences and the one of the present, which is already interpreted with the passage from the silent super 8 to the video.
