CINE 96 is a documentary series aiming to relate the first century of cinema in a region of France, the Nord Pas-de-Calais. The research carried out in the region has brought out an amazingly rich history, and human and technological adventures that match up with, and sometimes even anticipate, general history. Far from the centralized vision of the "official" history of cinematography, this film series (4 x 26') is a reference document. It testifies for the future and for the coming second century. A whole field of the buried and ignored social and cultural history of a population is brought out by CINE 96. Music by William SCHOTTE.
